Government’s mockery of the people continues
Statement of Georgos Loucaides, AKEL C.C. Spokesperson
AKEL C.C. Press Office, 17th February 2015, Nicosia
The Minister of Finance in statements made this morning repeated himself. He spoke as Germany’s Finance Minister Schäuble. Not only did the Minister of Finance accept that he didn’t offer any support to Greece’s efforts, but instead he once again degraded its assertions, acting in exactly the opposite way than the government and the President of the Republic had pledged to act in public.
It is clear that the powerful economic, ideological and party motives of the government and ruling forces are at variance with the decision and the struggle of the Greek people against the devastating austerity policies.
However, the fact that the government makes pledges in public on one hand and on the other breaks them is not understood at all by the people and is perceived as a mockery.
