Solidarity with the people of Ukraine
AKEL C.C. Press Office, 3rd June 2014, Nicosia
AKEL denounces the continuation of the Ukrainian army’s military operations in the eastern provinces of the country. A local hospital and an orphanage are added to the list of victims and casualties of these attacks. Even more so, it seems that no opportunity is being given to dialogue and peace.
Furthermore, AKEL condemns the legislative attempt to prohibit the Communist Party of Ukraine. It is clear that the fascist forces that are developing in the country’s social and political arena and participating in the political power are having a decisive influence in this decision being taken.
AKEL will participate in tomorrow’s meeting organised by the Cyprus Peace Council which will start from the Civil and Public Workers Union PASYDY and march towards the offices of the Delegation of the European Commission in Nicosia.
AKEL opposes the imperialist interventions in Ukraine and the fascist activity in the country, demonstrates for peace, expressing solidarity with the people of Ukraine and more specifically with the Communist Party of the country which is struggling under adverse conditions for the victory of democracy.
