AKEL’s vision is for humane, modern and prosperous cities and communities

Today the plenary of the Central Committee of AKEL ratified the proposals formulated by the local Party base organizations. This was done in a procedure that lasted for almost two months in which Party members played the leading role. Democracy in AKEL is implemented in practice.
AKEL’s options aim at serving local government and society and not any partisan or personal interests.
Local self-government is in need of support because it is in dire straits as a result of its downgrading by the Anastasiades – DISY party government.
Local government is in need of progressive reform, which the government has regretfully crushed.
The candidates AKEL proposes to local communities combine experience with enthusiasm, service to the community with an appetite for work, concern for the common people with an awareness of the responsibility they are undertaking.
A powerful AKEL represents a guarantee for the support and development of the institution of local self-government for more humane cities and communities, modern and prosperous. Together with citizens, we can achieve it.
