Marina Nikolaou was born in 1986 in Limassol and comes from Pelendri. She is a graduate of the Department of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Cyprus and at the same time is pursuing postgraduate studies on “Communication and the Media in Times of Crisis” at Frederick University.
Since 2016 she has been working in the Political Group of the European United Left/Nordic Green Left in the European Parliament, as a Political Adviser. She follows and coordinates the Committee on Culture and Education, the European Parliament Delegation to Palestine and the Delegation to the Union Parliamentary Assembly for the Mediterranean.
She has been a member of AKEL since 2004. She joined the ranks of the People’s Movement from a young age with intense activity in PEOM, EDON and Progressive Movement of Students. She was an elected representative in the Department of Political and Social Sciences as well as in the School of Humanities.
She was a member of the Press Office and Cultural Affairs Bureau of EDON and worked as a Research Fellow at the Cyprus Labour Institute (INEK-PEO) and then at the Youth Centre of the Cyprus Youth Organization (ONEK).
