The trilateral meeting in the city of Jerusalem violates United Nations resolutions

According to a Foreign Ministry press report, a new trilateral meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Cyprus, Greece and Israel is scheduled for Sunday.

AKEL’s position on trilateral meetings is well known and this is not the purpose of this statement.  What cannot go unnoticed is the venue of the meeting itself, which is Jerusalem. Through these meetings an attempt is being made to consolidate an unacceptable position of recognising Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, following in the footsteps of the United States and in violation of resolutions of the UN and the international community’s position.

We once again call on the Anastasiades-DISY Government to stop being the tail of the US and Israeli policy, and to consider the consequences of this practice on Cyprus’ struggle for a solution and reunification.
