DISY must respond to the reports of the Greek newspaper “To Vima”

The Greek newspaper “Vima” has revealed new evidence linking the ruling DISY party to the sinister case of surveillance and wiretapping. According to the report, the lawyer “A.S.”, until recently an official in DISY and a close associate of DISY President and presidential candidate Averof Neophytou, allegedly had a role in the entry of the malicious Predator software in Greece with which politicians and journalists were monitored. He allegedly worked closely with the director of the Prime Minister’s Office in Greece, Grigori Demetriades, who recently resigned under the pressure exerted by the scandal.
All this comes on top of what has been revealed in the previous period: Averof Neophytou’s connections with the Israeli ex-agents who own the black spy van and spy software companies. DISY’s cooperation with these companies for the security systems of the ruling party. To the recent emails revealing these agents requesting interventions by Averof Neophytou to Ministries to promote their interests.
The tactic of silence on the part of the ruling DISY party cannot continue any longer. In view of the arrival in Cyprus of the European Parliament’s Committee of Inquiry on spy software [PEGA], DISY and its government must provide clear and convincing answers and explanations for all this.
The case of the surveillance and wiretapping network concerns every Cypriot because it has to do with democracy, the rule of law, national security and human rights in our country. These sinister networks that have been roaming our country for years must be unraveled and eradicated once and for all.
