Cuba always produced sugar, doctors…and to some, nerves

On social media, there was a strong reaction to an article entitled “Heroes or mercenaries?” At first I didn’t pay much attention because I didn’t understand what it was about. However, whilst “surfing” on social media I decided to read it.
Oh dear…’Here we go again’, I thought to myself. Another attempt at vile anti-communist propaganda, with the third best preoccupation of anti-communist activity (after Stalin and the Soviet Union)…Cuba!
I will avoid commenting that the article is full of references like “according to other testimonies” – vague references, without any proof. For example, “they (the Cubans) are often called upon to falsify medical records in order to maximize the number of patients they have treated or whose lives they have saved”. Really, how many times? In which country? When? To make such accusations without any proof is shameful.
I will deal with the substance of the matter. Cuba has always produced sugar, doctors and… for some, nerves. The faithful adherents of neoliberalism and capitalism cannot stand the fact that for decades a country they are systematically undermining with their crushing blockade continues not only to resist and withstand these attacks, but represents an example in areas such as health and education. They cannot stand the fact that a society can operate based on serving people’s needs, with the collective and not the individual interest as its priority. They cannot stand the fact that Cuba responds to the diplomacy of isolation and restriction pursued by the United States and its allies, by expressing solidarity and offering medical assistance to a G7 country like Italy. They don’t have a problem because it’s Cuba, they have a problem because it’s Socialist Cuba!
They have become desperate about the moral advantage these stubborn, dark-skinned “Galatians” have, who refuse to abandon their revolution, at a time when the admirers of capitalism are trying to desperately convince us that the only revolutions that are taking place today are made by “new revolutionary shampoos and cleaning products”…
When countries of the imperialist pyramid are destroying entire countries, massacring peoples to create “vital spaces” for the multinationals and monopolies of their countries, it is considered as something quite normal and that “that’s life, what can we do?” When a country uses the superior health system it has created to send humanitarian aid and forms relations based on mutual assistance (for example, Venezuela), it is considered a crime, immoral and done for the purpose of…profit! Really, profit for whom? For the owner of a big drug company? For 5 shareholders of some large private polyclinic? Of course not, this is an “advantage” of your own system.
Beware, they are so desperate with “Fidel’s army” that they are accusing them of operating as they themselves do! What can we do, Cuba has always produced sugar, doctors and for some, nerves.
In closing,
“They are talk about the failure of socialism. But where is the success of capitalism in Africa, Latin America and Asia?” Fidel Castro
