Congratulatory letter from the General Secretary of AKEL to the Bicommunal Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage for the “Dedicated Services to Cultural Heritage” Award of the European Commission and Europa Nostra

28th May 2021, AKEL C.C. Press Office, Nicosia

The General Secretary of the C.C. of AKEL Andros Kyprianou sent the following congratulatory letter to the Bicommunal Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage.

“Taki Hadjidimitriou and Ali Tuncay,

Heads of Bicommunal Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage,

Members of the Bicommunal Technical Committee for Cultural Heritage,

I would like to express my warm congratulations for the very important new distinction your Committee has achieved, winning the 2021 European Commission and Europa Nostra Award on Cultural Heritage. With this award the work you are doing all these years has been recognised. With this award, your Committee is encouraged to continue with even greater intensity its work, which is very beneficial for our Cyprus.

On this opportunity, I would like to express once again AKEL’s satisfaction for your uninterrupted services from 2008 until today, for the rescue, maintenance and restoration of historical monuments and cultural sites of Cyprus, and for your joint efforts to promote our people’s common identity, but also to highlight the universal value of Cyprus’ cultural heritage. Thus, in your own way, you contribute not only to the creation of the preconditions for the solution of the Cyprus problem, but also for Peace to finally prevail in our common homeland.

Finally, I would like to point out that AKEL will always stand by you and support your valuable work in every way.

26th May 2021”
