AKEL MEP Giorgos Georgiou on the meeting with the President of the European Parliament R. Metsola

AKEL MEP G. Georgiou held a constructive meeting with the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, during which they exchanged views on the current issues facing the EU, ahead of Cyprus’ upcoming Presidency of the Council of the EU.
A significant part of the discussion was devoted to the Cyprus problem. The AKEL MEP highlighted the urgent need for the EU to actively strengthen the efforts to achieve a solution, based on UN resolutions and international law, with the aim of achieving a fair, sustainable and functional solution of Bi-zonal, Bi-communal Federation.
The meeting is considered to be of utmost importance, as it strengthens the development of sustainable synergies and interpersonal relationships with senior officials of EU institutions, such as the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola. Such contacts contribute decisively to shaping the European agenda on a number of critical issues, foremost among which are the Cyprus problem and the need to resume the negotiations for its solution, a position that the President of the EP has consistently supported.
In closing, the AKEL MEP expressed his appreciation to EP President R.Metsola for her willingness to cooperate and her readiness to support the just demands of the Cypriot people in every way possible.
