Μήνυμα προς το 23ο Συνέδριο απέστειλε το Κομμουνιστικό Κόμμα Ινδίας (Μαρξιστικό):
«Dear Comrades,
On behalf of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), I greet the 23rd Congress of the AKEL and wish it all success. Through you, I greet all the members of your Party and wish them good health.
The Covid-19 pandemic has exposed all the faultlines in the capitalist system and its inherently inhuman nature. While people around the world are getting infected and suffering from the pandemic, capitalist ruling classes are looking at it as an opportunity to further their profits. Access to free vaccines are being denied to all and attempts are being made to monopolise their production through patent rights. Public health system was systematically dismantled with drastic cuts in healthcare budget in the name of austerity. People were deprived of social welfare support. All these were part of the very same neoliberal policies that had increased income inequalities, unemployment and intensified poverty. The limitations of capitalism as an intrinsically crises ridden system that does not care for people or the planet is once again exposed.
On the other hand, the pandemic also has shown to the world the superiority of the socialist system. The manner in which Cuba, China, Vietnam have contained the pandemic, produced vaccines and are making them available to the people of all countries is now recognised. As adherents of Marxism-Leninism, it our bounden duty to expose the contrasts and contradictions between imperialism and socialism and mobilise people in support of socialism.
In many countries we find people on the streets protesting the failure of their respective governments. These protests have to be broadened to question the class rule of the capitalists and their ruling class cohorts. We should all strive to build a broad unity of all the toiling people under the leadership of the working class and sharpen class struggles.
The ruling classes are trying their best to quell the growing discontent among people. They are promoting all sorts of divisive ideologies in the name of race, religion, region, gender and caste in order to divide people and prevent class unity. Right-wing forces, parties and neo-nazi groups are encouraged to carry out their sinister design of dividing people. As communists, it befalls upon us to build and protect class unity by confronting all kinds of divisive ideologies.
Comrades,
In our country, we have a right-wing government that had been in government for the last seven years. This government had failed the people on all counts. It failed in containing the pandemic. In spite of all the tall talk, our economy is in a very bad shape. Agriculture, manufacturing, services, are all under severe strain. Hundreds of thousands of people have lost their jobs and many more were pushed into acute poverty. Economic crisis in our country, which pre-existed the pandemic, got accentuated with the pandemic and induced lockdowns. In order to come out of this deep crisis, the government is resorting to the sale of public assets. Almost all sectors of our economy, agriculture, defence, insurance, banking, mining, etc., are now open for private and foreign investment.
People of our country are rising in protest against these attacks. Led by the workers and peasants, we are witnessing some protracted struggles. Instead of heeding to their demands, the government is resorting to authoritarian measures to curtail these protests. It is curbing the democratic rights of people – their right to dissent, organise and protest. Right-wing forces are actively involved in promoting religious sectarianism to divide the growing unity among people. Violent attacks and increasing authoritarianism have become the defining features of the current regime. Our Party is braving these attacks and is in the midst of struggles.
As you might be aware, in the recently concluded elections to the state legislative assemblies, our Party successfully got re-elected in Kerala. This was possible because of the good governance of the CPI(M) led Left Democratic Front (LDF). In spite of the various constraints imposed by the system, our government was able to pursue propeople policies and offer succor in these difficult times. The efforts of our government in containing the pandemic were lauded by all sections of the people. However, we feel that we should not rest on our past, but continue to work hard and serve people to the best of our abilities.
We aim to increase the independent strength of our Party and the Left forces by reviewing our work in all fields and planning our strategies for the coming days.
Comrades,
On this occasion of your 23rd Congress, we once again wish you the very best in all your endeavours. We are confident that the deliberations of your Congress will contribute to the further strengthening of the AKEL, unifying the entire country and in the realisation of all your goals. The CPI(M) cherishes and treasures the friendship it shares with AKEL and we are confident that these bonds will be further strengthened in the coming days.»
