The Palestinian people continue to need the solidarity of the peoples of the world
AKEL C.C. Press Office, 28th November 2020, Nicosia
On the occasion of 29th November, International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, AKEL reiterates its full unreserved support to the defiant and unyielding Palestinian people who have been struggling heroically for decades for its freedom and vindication. AKEL also express its solidarity with the peace-loving forces inside Israel who are struggling against militarism, chauvinism and for an end to the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.
The Palestinian people continue to need the solidarity of the peoples of the world, especially of the Cypriot people, who are also a victim of occupation and colonalisation. The Palestinian people need our solidarity because it is struggling against the steeled war machine of Israel, which was set up with the support of the United States over many years and which is systematically violating international and humanitarian law, human rights, the Resolutions and Decisions of the UN. The Palestinian people is struggling against the occupation and colonization of its territories by the State of Israel, against the plans for the annexation of the West Bank which is being promoted with American support. It is fighting against the Wall of Shame and the inhumane long blockade of the Gaza Strip, against the demolition of its homes, the daily arrests and imprisonment of Palestinians including hundreds of children.
Solidarity with the Palestinian people means, first and above of all, support to the struggle for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, next to the State of Israel. This is after all in the interests of the future generations of both Palestine and Israel who have the right to live in peace and security.
