AKEL missions to Cuba and Turkey

A delegation from AKEL consisting of Yiorgos Loukaides, member of the Political Bureau and Head of the AKEL-Left-New Forces Parliamentary Group of and Vera Polycarpou, member of the Central Committee of AKEL and Head of the International Relations and European Affairs Bureau of the C.C. of AKEL will tomorrow depart for Cuba. The AKEL delegation will be in Havana from 8th June to 12th June at the invitation of the Communist Party of Cuba and will have meetings with the Communist Party of Cuba, the National Assembly of People’s Power, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Union of Communist Youth (UJC), the Cuban Institute of Friendship of the Peoples (ICAP), the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, as well as with Dr. Aleida Guevara.
Yiorgos Koukoumas, member of the Central Committee of AKEL and member of the International Relations Bureau of the C.C. of AKEL departs today for Turkey to participate in the Working Group of the International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties which will take place on 8-9th June in Izmir. The meeting is hosted by the Communist Party of Turkey. AKEL is a member of the Working Group that prepares the International Meetings of Communist and Workers Parties held every year since 1998 in various countries around the world and is the arena where the Communist and Workers Parties exchange views and coordinate their joint action.
