Demonstration in solidarity with the Palestinian people

We denounce the new wave of murderous violence against the Palestinian people by Israel and its military forces. We denounce the US Government’s decision to transfer their embassy to Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, which violates the relevant UN resolutions and constitutes a blatant provocation against the Palestinians. We reject the EU’s policy of equal-distancing between the perpetrator and the victim. We defend the just cause of the Palestinian struggle and its right to an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

AKEL has decided to abstain from any activities of the US and Israeli embassies in Cyprus to which it has been invited for the coming period.

AKEL is organising a demonstration in solidarity with the Palestinian people tomorrow, Wednesday, 16 May, with a pre-gathering at 18:00 p.m. at the building of PASYDY to be subsequently followed by a demonstration to the Israeli Embassy in Nicosia. The main speaker will be the General Secretary of the C.C. of AKEL Andros Kyprianou.
