2017 Budget serves big private interests and the privileged few

The last four years have seen the implementation of a punishing and unjust economic policy. The speech of the Minister of Finance and the content of the 2017 State Budget do not convince us that there will be a recovery and an economic improvement for all the people and not just for the privileged few. Our country records the most distressing figures as regards income inequality, but the budget keeps expenditure for both growth and social policy practically unchanged. The austerity, privatizations and policies that serve very big private interests and not the prosperity of the majority of the people, unfortunately remain key components of the government’s policy.
