The stronger AKEL is, the greater will our country’s hope and perspective be to take an alternative path

DISY President Averof Neophytou and the Anastasiades-DISY Government persist in propagating their well- known fairytale that public expenditure and their management by the previous government is to blame for everything. They continue to completely overlook the robbery of billions of Euros committed by the banks, which destroyed the economy. They continue to offer generous support and cover even now to ‘the best bankers in the world”, as they called the bankers and Governor of the Central Bank.
As a result, besides the haircut on bank deposits they imposed, they are now appealing to citizens to reward and support the DISY Rally party to continue unabated the cuts in wages and pensions, the cuts on the middle strata and SME’s, the cuts in public spending on health, education, housing policy and growth. They are calling on people to endorse them to continue their Memoranda austerity policies that have turned Cypriot society into the most unequal in terms of income society in Europe, after the Baltic countries. They want to continue to serve the privileged few of the economic establishment, at the expense of the prosperity of the majority of the people.
At the same time they continue their efforts to terrorize citizens, threatening them not to risk the government’s supposed “success story”, as they call the misery story experienced by our people.
Citizens however aren’t terrified. Instead, they have already provoked discomfort and fear among the government and ruling forces, forcing them a week before the election to announce packages containing measures that previously they had characterized as populist. Citizens waited for more than three years to live their best moments during the Anastasiades-DISY presidency with pre-election promises, aspirins and crumbs of charity. But they won’t wait until the next presidential elections for their new pledges. In the elections of 22nd May they can make the difference by voting for AKEL-Left-New Forces. The stronger AKEL-Left-New Forces will be, the greater will the hope and prospect of putting an end to the Memoranda austerity policies be, to end the policies that are serving the privileged few with the people paying the cost of the robbery committed by the banks. The stronger AKEL-Left-New Forces is the greater will the hope and perspective of our country be to take an alternative path for economic and social progress with less inequality and more prosperity for the majority of the people.
