For the DISY party leadership human life is a luxury

The day before yesterday the President of the governing DISY party Mr. Averof Neophytou stated in a television programme that more expensive things exist, whether medicines, cars and houses. Medicines, on whose provision the lives of hundreds of our fellow citizens depend on, according to the DISY party are in the same category as luxury cars and homes. Since evidently for the leadership of DISY and the Anastasiades Government human life is a luxury, for the last three years they have been engaged in imposing severe cuts in expenditure amounting to more than € 300 million, leading the public health sector to collapse. We for sure must credit them with consistency in the pursuit of their socially cruel philosophy, given that Mr. Averof Neophytou was accusing the Christofias government that it increased health spending over a period of three years by 26%, provoking allegedly a serious problem and damage to public finances.

We demand that the government stop acting destructively on public health by ensuring expenditures corresponding to the increased needs of a society and an economy that continues to be in deep crisis.

We demand that the government promotes measures that safeguard prompt and equitable access to medicines needed by patients suffering from serious and rare diseases.
