Government’s insistence on serving private interests will never be erased from people’s minds
Statement of Georgos Loucaides, AKEL C.C. Spokesperson
AKEL C.C. Press Office, 23rd February 2016, Nicosia
AKEL considers the prospect of the rejection of the Bills tabled by the government to promote privatizations, as it is evolving according to the public declarations made by parliamentary parties, as a very positive development.
If the opposition parties will remain consistent to their publicly expressed position to reject these Bills, the criminal absurdity of the looting of the most valuable asset of the Republic of Cyprus will be prevented. The realization of one of the Memorandum’s most detestable provisions will be stopped, which the government unlike other provisions such as the General Health Scheme, has sought to maintain till the very end in the prerequisites for the instalment.
However the untrustworthiness, contradictions and broken promises of the Anastasiades-DISY government will never be erased from people’s minds, but neither its dogmatic insistence on serving big private interests at the expense of consumers, taxpayers, working people and the country’s economy in general.
