Schauble’s policies are DISY party’s ideological and political manifesto
AKEL C.C. Press Office, 27th July 2015, Nicosia
All that the DISY party press release refers to against AKEL, on the pretext of a report published in the Greek daily newspaper “Ethnos” are a monument of hilarity.
1st hilarity:
A party that wants to be viewed as a serious party cannot claim that AKEL’s “Policy proposal to exit the Memorandum” was never revealed to the Cypriot people, given that AKEL:
- sent the proposal to the President of the Republic and the political parties,
- announced and made it public through a press conference held by the General Secretary of the Party on 14th May 2013,
- informed the National Council of the proposal at its session devoted to the economy on 15th May 2013,
- printed the proposal and distributed it to thousands of homes,
- organized open public debates to inform the people,
- the supposed “secret” proposal has long been posted on the party website.
2nd hilarity:
It is truly absurd when the DISY party is trying to equate the blackmail exerted by Schauble against Greece with AKEL’s proposal. If AKEL’s positions coincided with those of Schauble, we are certain that DISY would be applauding enthusiastically. The austerity policies imposed by Schauble represent the political manifesto of DISY party. Besides, Schauble and DISY party belong to the same ideological and political camp.
3rd hilarity:
The references that the Christofias government conducted the relevant study in 2012 and that the Greek academic Mr. Lapavitsas was an advisor on economic matters has nothing to do with reality. Yet, DISY party gladly adopted the relevant newspaper report. What a complete lack of seriousness!
