EU’s proclaimed principles empty words

Statement of Georgos Loucaides, AKEL C.C. Spokesperson

AKEL C.C. Press Office, 17th February 2015, Nicosia

eurogroupAKEL denounces the stand of the members of the Eurogroup towards Greece and the Greek people as completely unacceptable and condemnable. The repeated practice of blatant blackmail and ultimatums, as the Cypriot people had also experienced it with tragic results two years ago, in fact proves to be the endearing way the European Union and institutions operate. The EU’s proclaimed principles, namely solidarity, equality and democracy, once again, not only remain empty words, but on the contrary are flagrantly being violated by all those who supposedly should have been their guardians; by those however who remain dogmatic guardians of the policies of vicious austerity and the impoverishment of the peoples, always to the benefit of big capital and the monopolies.
