Careful handlings are demanded to protect Cyprus

Statement by Aristos Damianou, AKEL Political Bureau

As was unfortunately to be expected, following the attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran, in the last few hours we have seen an escalation of the conflict, which is turning into a regional conflict. This has unpredictable consequences for the peoples of the region.

From very early on, AKEL warned that the Republic of Cyprus must take a principled stance against actions that constitute violations of international law.

We want to believe that Mr. Christodoulides’ government has shielded the Republic of Cyprus so that we do not become a target. Careful handlings are demanded so that under no circumstances does our homeland become part of the problem.
