AKEL visit to the “Aradafnousa” Palliative Care Centre
19 February 2024, AKEL C.C. Press Office, Nicosia
A delegation of AKEL today paid a visit to the “Aradafnousa” Rehabilitation Centre of the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Association.
During the visit, the AKEL delegation had the opportunity to tour the new modern facilities and to be briefed by the management about the services offered and the important work being carried out.
The main focus of the discussion was the need to finalise the legislation on rehabilitation care so that, among other things, the minimum criteria that will enable the provision of high quality care to our fellow citizens suffering from cancer can be defined.
Furthermore, it was jointly agreed that the priority must be to update and implement the National Cancer Strategy which has been published for five years now and, above all, to create a National Cancer Institute, which will play a key role in the formulation, coordination and implementation of policies and actions under the National Cancer Strategy.
AKEL thanked the medical and administrative team of the Centre, while assuring them that AKEL will continue to stand by their side, further supporting the initiatives they are undertaking.
The AKEL delegation consisted of the Party’s Parliamentary Representative, Giorgos Loukaides, and the members of the AKEL Nicosia-Kyrenia District Committee, Toulla Antoniou and Pambos Kylilis.
