AKEL on Mother’s Day

The second Sunday of May is a day of honor for every Mother, a day of recognition, appreciation and respect for the universal symbol of love, warmth and protection.

The State must support maternity in practice. The government, the state and the competent bodies must elaborate and implement policies that support the needs maternity creates in a substantial and comprehensive way.

This requires the allocation of the necessary funds for social policies to be implemented. It requires policies that are characterised by a scientific approach and a comprehensive strategic plan.

AKEL has long been formulating specific proposals in this direction.

For the modernisation and reorganisation of social services.

For the development of child and infant care infrastructures.

For the support of families with three or more children and for the protection and extension of parental rights.

AKEL will continue to develop proposals, formulate and promote policies to support young parents, the modern mother and maternity in particular.
