AKEL supports and asserts together with the working people

AKEL supports and will participate in the Worker’s Protest and Assertion March being organised by the trade union federation of PEO this coming Saturday 15 October, with a rally outside the Ministry of Finance at 10:00 am.

AKEL is struggling and asserting, together with the working people, measures to tackle price hikes, for a dignified minimum wage with rights, legislative measures to strengthen Collective Agreements, the full restoration of the Cost of Living Allowance and its extension to cover all working people.

AKEL, as is well-known, through the assumption of its own initiatives, has succeeded in passing laws in Parliament to relieve households and businesses of the heavy burden of electricity and fuel bills. The government is turning a deaf ear and refusing to implement them.

We call on all the people to join the March. In the face of the callousness and apathy of the DISY government, the collective power of society must rise up and continue to demand action and measures be taken.
